THE ARTIST

A Dialogue Between Art & the City

Architecture, urban space and silk in dialogue. A personal photographic series traces light, ornament and movement through Prague.

AN ARTIST’S VISUAL DIALOGUE

Prague. From architecture to silk.

Proportion, light and ornament shape the way I think as an artist. By placing my photographs of Prague alongside my paintings on silk, I explore visual relationships that also inform work for a particular space or story.

Light draws across stone and its reflection continues on the water. In the golden lines of the peacock painting and the drape of a silk skirt, this rhythm takes another form - alive in every fold.

A star lamp photographed at Prague Castle, a golden drawing on pale silk and a separate rose-and-gold painting share one composition. The rhythm of line connects three distinct expressions of ornament: an artist’s visual dialogue, rather than a reproduction of the architecture.

I photograph the city, observing its light, proportion and ornament. Alongside this working moment, an unfolded painted scarf reveals its composition across the full surface while the fine silk remains in motion. These observations become part of the way I develop future commissions.

THE CREATIVE NOTEBOOK

Looking closely is part of the work.

When I travel, I observe proportion, light and the rhythm of architecture. I photograph details that catch my eye and explore their relationship with my own painting. This attention also shapes a commission: the atmosphere of a particular space, story or person becomes the starting point for a new composition on silk.
